(Click on the map to open it)

According to experts, more than 356,000 people in the United States experience sudden cardiac arrest outside of hospitals each year. While a shock from an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) combined with CPR can save people, experts estimate that only about 10% of those who are stricken outside of a hospital survive.

This life-saving initiative will strategically deploy next-generation AEDs throughout the county, as well as a first-of-its-kind OHCA response solution, in an effort to get AEDs to the scene of a nearby cardiac arrest emergency faster than first responders, to save countless lives each year.

AED locations are not always easily found by facility occupants or those nearby who are aware of an emergency and need to use the AED. The ideal locations for the AEDs are being determined behind the scenes by a large coalition of medical professionals, emergency personnel, GIS experts, and others.

This AED Inventory can be used to maintain an inventory of AEDs in Cumberland County, NC, and share the location of AEDs with internal stakeholders and the public.
