Adopt a Street
(Click on the map to open it)
Cumberland County Solid Waste Management is an enterprise fund, which means the department receives no tax dollars for its operations. The county looks forward to seeing volunteers participate to keep our community clean.
How to adopt a street
1- From "Adopt Status" turn on "Available", to see all available streets.
2- Zoom in on the map to find a street and select it.
3- Tap on "Click here to apply", fill out the application form, and submit it.
4- Congratulations! You are a precious volunteer now
Some of the technical aspects:
1. The dashboard was created by Web AppBuilder and deployed to the server.
2. Two different pop-ups for different categories;
- The pop-up shows "Not available to adopt" and some information about the street and the volunteer, if the selected street is already adopted or in a pending status
- The pop-up shows "Available to adopt" and a link to apply, if the selected street is available
3. The link to apply navigates you to Survey123 connect and pushes the selected feature into the survey using its Global ID. So that you can see the selection and information related to it in the survey.
4. Symbology of features changes upon submission. As soon as a volunteer presses "Submit", the status of the street turns to "Pending". A semi-automated procedure was also made for our GIS specialist to confirm the application or reject it as simply as a click. That acceptance or rejection is reflected in real-time on the Adopt a Street map.
5. The dashboard includes customized widgets such as a print widget that shows the page layout
